christmas shopping...
i'm not too fond of it i must admit... always worried that the recipients won't like it... and there's always so many people around stressing out... wish i was the kind of person that was able to get the shopping done by Oct, but i'm definately way too unorganised for that...
we're baking gingerbreadmen (and women) tomorrow at mom's that'll be fun, hopefully there'll be a little Christmas spirit in the air or dough... ;)

not much going on...
pretty much the same everyday... really looking forward to some days off around Christmas.
We (mostly L) decorated for Christmas yesterday. looks pretty good. a little early for me personally, but that's ok, she loves it and Christmas can never come too early for her it seems. we'll prob even put the tree up soon. in my fam we put it up in the 23rd, but that is pretty late... just different ways of doing things i guess, not fussed either way really... i'm often just afraid to "use up" the little Chirstmas spirit i have a year before the big day is here....
not much else to tell, just been one of those weeks.... anyways...
"merry christmas to all, and to all a merry christmas!" (who says that originally - was it that little cricket in that Disney film?)

How to Tell if You're a Grinch...
- You reuse last year's Christmas cards and send them out under your own name. (5 points)
- You steal light bulbs from you neighbor's outdoor display to replenish your own supply. (5 points, 10 if neighbor's whole light sets or lighted Santa goes out)
- You have dressed a dog or cat as Santa Claus, elf helper, or reindeer. (10 points for each; if you dressed an endangered species, 5 extra points)
- You put out last year's stale candy canes for children. (1 point for each piece of sticky candy). If you put out a chocolate or marzipan Santa also, add 10 points.
- You enclose a shoddy and inferior gift from Target, Walmart, or K-Mart in a Bloomingdale's or other prestige box to impress your friends. (5 points for each infraction).
- You make collect long distance phone calls to your family on Christmas day. (5 points, 10 if from a cell phone), claiming you are stuck in a phone booth.
- At the office Christmas party, you horde huge stockpiles of goodies for later consumption at home. (5 points; 15 points if you use this stuff for your own party)
- You steal the wreath from a parked car to use on your own [Southern California only, others ignore]. (5 points -- nobody but Angelenos are dumb enough to dress a car)
- After an invitation to a friend's house, you bring a commercially produced fruitcake and try to pass it off as home made. (5 points; 15 points if the fruitcake is from last year).
- Any stealing from the Toys-for-Tots collection bins is a definite no-no. (20 points)
Evaluate your score on the "Grinch Scale" from 20 to 100.
20-30: You are just a cheeseball.
30-50: You are an apprentice in Yuletide larceny and are probably wanted by the police for overdue parking tickets.
50-100: Grinch, move over. The Meyer Lansky of Christmas crime has arrived.
we're back....
got in late last night.. had a really good time, pretty stressful, but we got most things sorted out... we'll be moving come march.... pretty weird feeling, been in limbo about the whole thing for so long now that it feels kinda nice, but surreal to actually be as close to definately moving as possible. i'm excited...
i quit my job today... always feel a little guilty when i do. it's weird off all the jobs that i've had i've always (with the exception of one - McD's) quit because i was moving to another country... been moving a lot in the last few years... so, much so that i (we) start getting restless after about a year, as if i'm supposed to be moving soon...
so, how is life in the fast lane?

going to Oslo
leave tomorrow... looking forward to that... it'll be great to have some time in a big city... L really wants to check out a couple of the museums and other tourist-stuff... glad we get to go before we leave...
it was a beautiful morning, but now it's all overcast and kind of about to start raining... blah... just one of those days i guess...
the importance of good grammar...
Sadly enough this is a all too true at times... it's funny, but at the same time not...

well i just don't know...
people can't just say what they think anymore... everybody's so incredibly afraid to offend... if everybody just told it like it was, things would be much better... it's not always easy to take it then and there, but i'm sure that it's better for everyone in the long run... much less frustration and backbiting... i wish i had the guts to always tell it like it is or i feel... but too often i'm a coward...
yes, i know... just a little too "heal the world, make it a better place" and so forth, but i just had to get that out of my system... feel a little better now...

could not for the life of me get up this morning.... was just incredibly tired... ended up coming in to work at 11, eating breakfast on my lunch break... pretty sad...
booked tickets for Oslo yesterday... got an interview in two weeks at the US embassy about the whole greencard thing for the states... it'll be great to get out adnd be in another city for a couple of days...
it snowed last night... like snow in and of itself, just not all the crap that comes with it, like icey roads, cold etc... but the snow is pretty...

Christianity and soccer...
I enjoyed this little quote on the not so widespread use of Spiritual Gifts in modern Christianity and/or being actively involved in a church:
"The Church can be compared with a soccer match; thousands of people with a desperate need for exercise sit and watch 22 men with a desperate need for rest."

Not been reading enough lately...
kind of miss it... it's not that i'm nescesarily (have not idea how to spell that word) too busy or anything, just that the words don't stick to my brain... odd... a little too easy to turn the TV on... i think my brain shuts down on my way home from work or something...
saw the old Hanson video Mmmm Bop! on TV yesterday... surreal...

There's something fishy going on...
not sure what it is, but there's definately something... i'm certain that there are goings on behind the scenes that we're not able to see. more and more i'm convinced that the world as we know really isn't as we know it. our perception is, if not false, at least distorted, because we don't have/aren't given all the information we need to see the big picture. Does anyone really know what's going on? i doubt it... i don't think i'm being paranoid (at least i don't feel paranoid), nor gona alll conspiracy theory on the world... i just think that there's more to life and this world than meets the eye...
Shalom!

it's a good day today
this blog has become a little gloomy... not my intent... sorry... sound like i have the most horrible time... don't though... life is generally good. today it's sunny, about to go to my brother's 16th bday. who can complain about life on a day like this? Certainly not me...

Doppler
just finished Erlend Loe's latest novel "Doppler". if you're Norwegian READ IT! if you're not, do so when it comes out in English (which i really hope it does)... truly inspiring story of Doppler who is sick of society and moves into the forest for total exclusion except for the befriended moose baby (what is a moose baby really called, a calf or what? i'm just pretty sure the technical term isn't moose baby though - and yes, i am an ignorant foreigner...) named "Bongo"... it inspired me to try the same, but as it is unlikely that'll i'll become best friends with a moose, (he wouldn't even have to be called Bongo - i'm not THAT picky…) i'm not sure it'd be worth it... so i think i'll stick around...

Dunno....
i just don't know... not enough time or space to just sit and let things sink in... life is just too hectic... or cramped... or stifling... or well i could go on and on... being a little gllomy aren't i...
"always be cheerful. pray unceasingly. under all circumstances give thanks, for such is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" - 1 thess 5:16-18
so there we go... so simple, yet impossible...

Free Will
find the concept of free will very intriguing. in some ways i think it's one of the the best aspects of all creation. at the same time i'm not always too comfortable. like it doesn't always seem worth it to me, when i see all the crap i put the people around me through. not to mention war, starvation, genocide etc, etc, in other parts of the world... so what's best? war, hunger, murder, etc; or humanity being the euivalent of a robot?

tired
wonder why everything seems to be more tiring in the fall... maybe it's the lack of sun. but it might be something else. not sure. what i do know though is that everything seems to be more tiresome in the fall. want to sleep a lot more. takes me longer to wake up properly. need more coffee to get the system up and running. wish there were more weekends. never seem to get enough rest. it the most dominant feeling i have these days; the feeling of tiredness.
how about you? notice any difference in the fall? what do you think is the reason? is there a reason at all?
