without title

nothing to report today. i think that's good. i wish it wasn't though. it'd be nice to have some exciting news to share, but honestly, i mostly complain or post other people's thoughts and ideas or some useless link/pic/video.

what a self filled post this is so far; me, me, me, me. come to think of it, most of this blog is self focused, and honestly, i'm not that interesting. i need to find something bigger and important to focus on. don't you agree? simply cutting and pasting White Ninja just wont do anymore (not sure it ever really did)

it might be a Norwegian's observations of the Deep South, or all the reasons why Swedes are stupid, or maybe something more important like world hunger, fair trade or eco-farming? something spiritual? (what's bigger and more important that God?) something needs to change, i just don't know what or how.

i have a feeling this post will either be the death or the rejuvenation of this blog. time will tell which it'll be.

maybe i'm just taking all this way too seriously.

Keep writing. It's good for you. Plus, I look forward to hearing what you have to say, even if I don't agree with you.

Here's a topic from "The Pocket Muse" by Monica Wood.

"The Bible is a magical repository for story ideas. Every story is a metaphor with limitless possibilities for retelling.

Place Lot's wife at a school board meeting in Kansas.

Tempt Adam with a Corvette rather than an apple.

Turn Job into a bus driver and give him a test that even God couldn't dream up."

Nathan! Didn't even know you read this! The Lot's wife one made me chuckle... you and A doing well?

Doing very well. Been living without electricity for a week and a half (except at the office), but considering what many people down here are dealing with, the lack of electricity is a minor trouble.

Just in case you were wondering, the non-alcoholic drink version of a hurricane is not nearly as much fun as it's alcoholic fruity drink counterpart.

Another idea from The Pocket Muse, "Write about an ordinary ritual in which something goes terribly wrong."

man, you guys got it rough this time around... your house okay? how far from the impact area are you guys? (sorry, my knowledge of Texas geography is minimal...)

Fortunately, our home is ok. However, we live in a neighborhood with lots of old trees and there are fallen trees everywhere you look. Many of them are right through the middle of homes. The sheer destructive force is unimaginable.

We live about 5 miles northwest of downtown Houston, so the western side of the eyewall of the hurricane went right over top of us. It was truly a scary experience to sit through. It all came through in the middle of the night and once the power was out (at about 11 pm for us) we couldn't really see anything outside. So it was all howling wind and the sound of crashing trees and limbs for hours on end.

But, most importantly, we made it through safely and after power gets restored, things should be relatively back to normal for us.

Post the "monotony." I've been reading White Ninja relentlessly the past couple of days.

I thought about posting only as someone who has lost weight or someone who has returned to school, someone that has just moved away from home, but blah blah blah. I'm actually snoring now.

Sorry to interrupt your conversation.

not an interruption at all; Nathan meet Troy, Troy this is Nathan. :p
